FeX Energy is a start-up developing a proprietary and groundbreaking long duration energy storage solution to economically decarbonize energy. At scale, we aim to abate over 650 megatons per year of CO2, while creating a multi-billion dollar business.
FeX Energy’s first product will feature it's patented Iron Arc Reactor and balance of plant equipment packaged in standard shipping containers. The product will deliver heat (up to 900°C) and/or power to balance fluctuating availability and cost of renewable energy. The inherent energy density of iron means yields a significant footprint advantages over competitor solutions for remote or brownfield applications.
The company was founded in 2023 in partnership between McGill University’s world class Alternative Fuels Laboratory and Canada’s first cleantech venture studio, Hard Climate. The team comprises 13 leaders in energy innovation with over 150 years of collective passion and experience in the field of engineering, executive leadership, and serial-entrepreneurialism.
