The GREEnMat research unit, part of the University of Liège, is your partner of choice in customized metal powder fabrication (pilot-scale gas atomization unit), particle classification (industrial inert-atmosphere classification unit), agglomeration, homogenization or functionalization (pilot scale ATEX spray-drying unit, pilot grinding installations) as well as prof-of concept tests using our additive manufacturing facilities (pilot-scale 3D-printers, LPBF - Aconity-Micro and binder jetting - Desktop Metal-P1, multi-material deposition, inert atmosphere sintering).
GREEnMat is the only Belgian university laboratory able to produce at pilot scale metal powders using gas atomization at very high temperature (2100°C). Large batches (several kg per day) of a wide range of metal powders and alloys (Fe, Zn, Sn, Al, Pt, 17-4PH, stainless steels), including highly reactive powders as aluminum, can be produced. Coupled close atomization or free flow atomization modes are available, allowing the production of powders with particle granulometry ranging from 10 µm to 250 µm.
With the ambition to contribute to the development and fundamental understanding of new metal-based solutions for emerging energy-related technologies, our expertise and cutting-edge equipment covers the entire development chain, from metal (alloy) powder conception, pilot-scale fabrication, properties characterization (size, shape, microstructure, composition, flowability, mechanical testing,…) and material performance evaluation (powders or 3D-printed parts).
