Interreg MPH2 Learning and Testing Environment

As the lead partner of the Interreg Flanders-Netherlands project "MPH2 Learning and Testing Environment," Metalot Future Energy Lab spearheads a cross-border collaboration in which Flemish and Dutch partners jointly implement and test the Metal Power hydrogen value chain.

This project establishes a cross-border learning and testing environment covering the entire chain: from the reduction of iron oxide using green hydrogen and the transport and storage of iron powder, to its combustion for high-temperature heat and electricity generation. Iron powder serves as a safe, compact, and circular energy carrier—a CO₂-free solution of particular relevance to large-scale decentralized industrial consumers.

Objective

To further develop and validate Metal Power technology to TRL 6–8, exchange knowledge regarding regulations, safety, and logistics, and lay the foundation for scaling up and deployment in Flanders and the Netherlands.
